Artist statement: I have long been fascinated with printmaking: it is a perverse art form, as much craft as art, requiring considerable time and patience. And unlike painting the outcome is uncertain until the “aha” moment when you lift paper from press and the final result is revealed. After all these years printmaking is still a daunting challenge, but what a wonder when it comes out right!

Artist statement: My paintings explore the versatility of transparent watercolor: its vibrant luminosity, its range and intensity of color, and its capacity to granulate and produce unexpected textural effects. During the many years that I've worked in watercolor, I've come to enjoy the rewards –– and challenges –– of this serendipitous medium. Most paintings are completed in the studio using my digital photographs as references, but I also enjoy working en plein air when New England weather permits.

Artist statement: Art serves as my refuge, a place of release and expression. As I create, time takes on a malleable quality, stretching and contracting. This elasticity of time provides a peaceful cadence to my creative process. Each piece I create is a response to the tapestry of my life— sometimes literally using thread to weave the elements of the present with fragments from my past. My intention is to illuminate the connections between these two realms and underscore their influence.
