My Own Eyes
My Own Eyes
Mads Otis

Artist statement: This piece was meant to reflect the lens that people often see themselves though. We are our own harshest critiques and I wanted to explore the framing device that plays in how we view ourselves on a regular basis. The hope for the composition of this piece was to exhibit that sadness in the eyes, as well as the amount of energy it takes to carry that constant judgement towards ourselves.

Artist statement: This piece shares a bright sense of happiness in my opinion, it was one of my favorite shots I had taken that morning. It brought such a light in the deep woods we were settled in, yet the entire piece is trickled with little bits of light that round out the frame so well. I enjoy the piece for its simplicity and its joy, and for the fact that it makes me smile.

Artist statement: This is one of my favorite pieces I've taken in my home. I took this shot in November, while experimenting with my camera settings. I settled to shoot the corner of a chair that was opposite my dining room table. I got no more than one shot in when my dog, Otis walked down the aisle and wouldn't move. So he became part of the piece. It is one of the best happy accidents I've had, especially in terms of more laid back shots.

Artist statement: I am a travel and landscape photographer based in Clinton, MA. I moved to New England about three and a half years ago and am still exploring this amazing area, trying to bring its amazing landscape variety to life. There is nothing like climbing a mountain to watch the sun settling over the vista or enjoying the quiet of the early morning woods. As they say in Maine, it is the way life should be. Through my work, I try to bring that sense of wonder to the viewer.

Artist statement: Watercolor paintings adorned the walls of my grandparent’s Narragansett beach house. All of the grandchildren admired Papa’s watercolor paintings. About 10 years back, I decided to follow my grandfather’s lead. I’m self-taught, and paint almost every day. The fondest memories of my youth were of the summers spent at the beach house across from Scarborough Beach. The costal Rhode Island seascape is the inspiration for many of my paintings.

Patricia Paxson
$90.00

Artist statement: I've been a painter for the past many years, interested in such ideas as energies, dreams, and personal interactions, as well as interest in meditation, music, and exercise. In terms of the painting, I often use a variety of primary marks and colors which then build into layers. These initial methods connect intuition and spontaneity regarding learning ways of looking beyond our world, and into what may be happening in others.
