Artist statement: Painting with watercolor, acrylics and pastels is my key to my secret garden, to my way down the rabbit hole, to my very own looking glass. My subjects are varied, ranging from seascapes, landscapes, portraits and still life. I love to travel and sometimes I work from photos that I have taken on the road. I aim for realism, but sometimes I allow the rich hues, textures and shadows to dominate. My strong hope is that my art awakens the childlike wonder within everyone who sees it.

Artist statement: I paint in oils, mostly from observation, using the Direct Painting method, leaving deliberate brushstrokes as evidence of my process and part of the final statement. Searching leads to a series of discoveries translating into line, shape, value and color. I squint to reduce information, to see relationships in color and value, and to decide what can be left out, and what is essential to the structure. The figure is the primary genre in my work- often dear subjects of family or friends, relat

Artist statement: A full moon, a short window of cloudless sky, and a discouraging aurora forecast ALMOST kept me comfortable in bed instead of venturing out at midnight to take my chances. But I have found that sometimes the best shots happen when you least expect them, and I'd rather not regret missing out on one of these moments in favor of a few extra hours of sleep.

Artist statement: Sunrises are hard when you're not a morning person! I was up and in the car heading to this pier well before the sun was up or any coffee shops were open, but the adrenaline kicks in once the sky starts to light up and you know the colorful sunrise will begin to fade into the full morning sun before you know it.

Artist statement: Astrophotography is my favorite kind of photography, because I can plan for so many different details that go into a shot before I actually get out there and take off the lens cap. However, there are plenty of times when plans go awry - planned destinations are gated after dark, for instance. On this particular night, I had to get on Google Maps and find a new composition, and luckily I found a south-facing beach with minimal light pollution and some nice dunes to shoot from!

Artist statement: There truly is no better time to live in New England than in October. The foliage, the weather, and the atmosphere make road trips irresistible and I cannot emphasize enough that it is so much more satisfying to get off the beaten trail and take your own photos. I'm sure we have all seen a thousand versions of the same shot at Sleepy Hollow Farm - it's a classic comp, but it's now disruptive to the locals who live on that road. In New England it's almost impossible to take a bad foliage photo!
