Artist statement: Although my subjects are varied my main focus for the past 20 years has been still life paintings. My still life paintings are born from the appreciation of the play of light on common objects or a scene. Revealing the beauty of simple subjects that are frequently overlooked is a challenge that I enjoy. The inspiration for a still life often rises from the shape of a piece of fruit. It can come from the unexpected pairing of objects, or the humor in a formal arrangement of food.
